Business Card Development

It was considered that creating business cards could be a simple physical way networking with other creatives and promoting myself / business to potential clients. The physicality of the cards would mean that I could also experiment more with materials and form within the format of a business card to create something tangible and tactile.

It was considered that potentially the business card could use shapes of different materials to show my interest in using and experimenting with materials within my practice. Using two materials within the design would allow them to contrast against and elevate one another. A mixture of textured materials and potentially coloured paper using similar colours to the materials could be used in combination to create a contrast in texture.

These materials could be duplexed onto the back of the business cards.

It was considered that the business card could be an odd shape which would reflect my interest in reusing materials. The placement of the text on the business card could be angled on each of the sides of the card, which would encourage people to interact with the business card ans they would have to turn it to read the writing. It would also create a playful feel to the design. Placing the text around the outside of the shape would allow the texture of the material to become the focal point of the design in a similar way to that of GF Smith collateral. Potentially the logo could be used on one side with the other information placed on the back. Keeping the design super simple with minimal information would allow the business card to be clear and direct, whilst looking refined / professional but also playful and interactive.
