Refinement of Logo

It was considered that perhaps the current squiggle within my logo was a little too busy. Also my the marks in my notebook seem to have become more simplistic over time so it was considered that my logo could be adapted to better fit this.

A number of squiggles were made on a sheet of paper, with the repetitivity of this allowing me to create a consistency within the mark making. These were then drawn over in a fineliner on tracing paper. The designs were scanned into the computer and the most common squiggle form was chosen.

Different line weights for both the squiggle and box were used to create contrast and reflect the thickness of written lines, whilst others created more impact.

This squiggle had more balance within its shape and looked a little more natural than the others.

Within my website design and in some of my recent projects I had use bright green as a way of reflecting the idea of nature and my interest in sustainability and reuse in a contemporary and vibrant way. These themes are common within my work so it was considered that this should become part of my overall personal branding rather than just an element.

Rather than using a square which is quite angular and hard it was considered that a circle could better complement the squiggle inside it and continue this theme of natural forms through the use of a curved shape. The use of the black and green worked well in contrasting against one another and made the design more versatile. Placing the black squiggle within a green circle was the strongest design as the use of the black within the circle drew the eye inwards and looked more balanced. The designs which allowed the white background to show through looked brighter and more airy and refined. It was also considered that if the logo was to be used on different materials this would allow those materials to become part of the designs which I have explored in other projects. Allowing materials to be a focal point within designs highlights my interest in them and using them and allows the qualities of these to be shown.
