Studio Brief 1 - Reflective Practice - Feedback on poster and other designs

Feedback and Other Designs

Feedback on my Reflective Poster (top central poster with circles) was positive, it was said that it was interesting how I had used circles as a restriction however when composed on the poster they became quite free-flowing. The use of materials was said to be an interesting way of showing my practice.

Other Designs that I found interesting:

The experimental brush strokes created an expressive feeling to the poster which reflected a calligraphic appearance. Also printing black text on block black colour created a subtle effect that made you look closer at the poster.

The crystal like forms within this poster were of particularly striking and it would be interesting to find out how they were made.

The concept of using a receipt was a clever way of suggesting the total cost of the year, without putting a value on each of the things we have done as perhaps that is unknown at the moment.

The simple concept plays on the persons surname so focuses on the idea of shuffling. This is represented effectively and cohesively through the use of wavy typography.

This design uses a map to reflect the designers practice with symbols signifying the different questions we had to answer, which visually is a strong concept.

The layout and typography on this poster was particularly strong. The title 'Graphic Design' merges subtly with the imagery through the use of dots. The piece reflects the journey he takes from home to university everyday which also creates a sense of his journey through the year.

The DIY approach to this poster was original, with the actual process of creating the poster becoming the poster. The brief, ideas, scraps and images of him making the poster were all included within the poster creating a sense of how he works.
